Believe me when I tell you that no one could have been more stunned than I was when Jesus healed me.  I had only been a Christian for a few years when it happened. For thirteen years I suffered with  intense back pain resulting from a car accident.  The pain was always there, but sometimes it was so sharp that my husband would come home from work to find me lying on the floor in the fetal position, crying. It affected everything about my life… the level of my joy, my relationship with my husband (constant pain makes you grumpy) and my ability to care for our two small children.  Unloading the dishwasher hurt. Carrying babies hurt. Vacuuming was out of the question – my husband had to do it.  I had such a wonderful life – but I was miserable.

People kept telling me I should go to the healing rooms and receive prayer, but I didn’t want to. For one thing, what if it was weird?  For another, I was taught that we all have a cross to bear.  Maybe this was mine. It sure as heck wasn’t making me more loving or Christ-like, though.  Finally, in desperation, I went to the healing rooms. I asked Steve to come with me, because I wanted my husband there and I figured if it was weird we could run out.

I wasn’t really expecting anything to happen. But suddenly, when the prayer ministers laid hands on me, I felt heat go through my neck and down my back.  In fact it was so hot that I turned around to see if one of them had placed a hot pad on my back.  But they hadn’t. It was Jesus. He touched me and I was healed instantly.

Everything about my life changed from that moment on. My back was healed! I honestly couldn’t believe it!  A few days later I wanted to test my healing, so when my three year old son fell asleep in his car seat, I actually lifted him out, carried him all the way upstairs and laid him in his crib.  Something I had never been able to do without extreme pain. I felt like Super Mom!!!

After that, I became obsessed with what the bible has to say about physical healing.  I also became obsessed with praying for people who needed healing! I felt like God had given me an incredible gift, and I just HAD to give it away! I chased people around trying to pray for them even if they just had a cold. Some got healed and some didn’t, but I didn’t let the disappointments stop me. I kept digging into the scriptures and I pleaded with God for the gift of healing He makes available in 1 Corinthians 12:9.

A few years later, in 2010, I was diagnosed with type four fast-moving skin cancer.  This time, I knew what to do.  I pursued prayer. I got healed. I felt impressed to declare all the wonderful things God had done for me, so I put my story into a book:

I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I do know that Jesus’ work on earth is supposed to be duplicated through His followers.  If you are interested in learning more you can take my online class, Healing and the Gospel.

I am so blessed to partner with you in the study of healing!

And he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.Luke 9.2
